Oscar Nominees

Well... the Oscar nominees were announced today. Below is alittle bit of my thoughts as I run through them.

Frankly, I am not as interested this year as I usually am. Mainly because of Brokeback Mountain being the top nominee, and because of other liberal propaganda that was nominated. Yes, I think Syriana, Munich, Good Night and Good Luck and Brokeback are all propaganda from the liberal Hollywood elites. And I would note that none of them did that well at the box office except Brokeback, which was recieved well in liberal centers, but not much else.

But anyway, on to the nominees... You can get the list here.

Best Picture
No surprise that Brokeback is nominated, and that it will win. Just the type of thing the Hollywood types want. Yech. I also have to admit that the only film of these (that I saw) that I really thought was good was Capote. The only other was Munich, which didn't do it for me.

Best Actor
Hoffman will win. He won the SAG award, and that almost always predicts the winner. And he deserves it too, great performance.

Best Actress
Way to go Keira Knightley! From "Princess of Thieves", a Disney Channel special that was pretty bad and she was pretty bad in it, to Best Actress nomination in 5 years! But I doubt she will win. I have to go with Reese. Again, she won the SAG.

Best Supporting Actor
Go Paul Giamatti! Again, he won the SAG, so I think he will win here. And he was great! This would also be a make up for his lack of nomination from last year in Sideways (which was a shock to everyone...)

Best Supporting Actress
Well... Rachel Weisz won the SAG. So I think, again, she will win. But you never know. Michelle Williams may for Brokeback, she is the other fav.

Best Director
I think it is Ang Lee's to lose for Brokeback.

Other Observations

Woody Allen got a nom for writing... cool!

Of course, I think Brokeback is going to pick up most of its other awards. The political stuff will probably win for writing.

Cinematography should go to The New World, it just looked great.

Editing I hope goes to Cinderella Man. I really liked it:)

Art direction? Pride and Prejudice was really well done. So were Harry Potter and Kong though. I also like the costuming in Prejudice.

No idea on best song. Best makeup, gotta go with Narnia. Sith wasn't that great, and Cinderella man, while good, wasn't as flashy:)

Sound, I think it will be Kong or War of the Worlds, though I wish it was Narnia. With Sound Editing, I think either of those, but I think Kong was better at that. Kong deserves Visual Effects. Narnia was great, and would deserve it too, but Kong himself was so good... the only really great thing in the movie.

Animated Film... please be Wallace and Grommit! Note that none are computer animated films.

Don't really know about the rest.

Well... I don't know if I will watch the Oscars. Jon Stewart is doing the hosting. I think it will be a liberal love fest all night. Pity. Don't get me wrong, Stewart is very funny, and I do like the Daily Show, but with the nominees they have, it will be a liberal love fest.

March 5th...
