Well... You have all heard about the bombings in London. I actually know the area of one of the explosions, my law school sponsored a trip to England and we stayed in a hotel off of Russel Square, and used that station all the time. From what I hear now, the devastation is mostly phychological. A high injury number (700) and about 37 dead. So this is not WTC, but it is a big thing. Thank God that it wasn't worse. I just hope this strengthens England's resolve to fight these guys. Since the bombings, alot has been said. Not to much for me to add. This is from a ministry associate of Mastermedia in London. Below is an encouraging call to action sent by him.
This is a really hard day for many people, I hope this helps.
Blessed as I am to be safe, I feel that I have a real responsibility to shine today. To be really loving, really peaceful, really compassionate, really sensitive to what's happening. We are all God's children, whether we know it or not and regardless of what situation we are in. Those of us that do know God as our Father and are safe need especially to shine today.
Yesterday I was in London and God spoke to me through a series of small messges. I was walking along Millenium Bridge feeling really happy and blessed with life. Then all of a sudden, a little voice crept in like a cloud and said, "ah well, it might not last". I've often done this in my life - been really happy and enjoying life and then started to feel like it's all too good to be true - perhaps I don't even deserve to feel this good, kind of "why me?"
Just then a saw some graphic design writing across a large glass building, it said "Who ever believes in me will never be in darkness" John 12:46. I felt as if God was saying, "You are not supposed to let clouds of dark doubt, worry, fear cover you, if you believe in me and follow my way you will be in light and it is important that you let that light shine because the world can be very dark."
I was really stuck by this and wandered into St Pauls (I'd been heading there for some reason ... and felt 'prompted' to pop in). I went to the side chapel and sat and reflected on what I'd just read and then I started doubting again ... almost feeling that to see that message had been too good to be true. I then elt 'prompted' to light a candle. Where the candles were burning, there was a small brass plaque and I was amazed to see that there again, carved into the brass, was the message "I am the light of the world. No follower of Mine shall walk in darkness." I decided at this point to write this down. There were a small stack of cards by the candle so I picked one up and even before I read it, I knew what was likely to be on there ... "I am the light of the world. No follower of mine shall walk in darkness." I felt certain at this point that God wanted me to know this, and to believe it. The card also said "Let Your Light Shine" - and yesterday I thought this message was just personal, today I think it's global. If we are able, we really need to do that today.
A candle is a symbol, it speaks of light, hope, warmth and love. A candle is a reminder it recalls Jesus, the one true light, whom the darkness could not extinguish.
Go out of your way today - this very afternoon - to be a light where you are, to bless others and to shine like Jesus in your situation.
