Star Wars mini review

It has come to my attention that I have not fulfilled my promise. I did say I would post a review of the latest Star Wars film the night it came out. However, I was just to tired, and I had to play the piano for my mother (who was singing) that morning, so... I decided to write it on Thursday. But, alas and alak, other items took up the time, and here it is, Friday, and I havn't yet written a review.

And I won't for a while. Well, maybe later. I just have too much going on right now.

BUT!!!! I will give this mini review right now!!!

The film has the same problems the last two did. The love scenes don't work well, just badly written I think. Some poor acting, and frankly, for me, the total digital set thing is wierd. But, it is a marked improvement, and has alot of elements that bring it up to the level of the first series.

Acting wise, Hayden Christiansen makes up for his lackluster performance last time. He proves that he is capable, and a good choice. Natalie Portman does better, actually emoting some (!) but she is mostly stuck with looking pensive and doesn't get much to do.

Ewan does well, as usual. Yoda is great. The one performance that is really awesome is Ian McDiarmid as the Emperor. He is sinister, creepy, fatherly, helpless, powerful... and I don't have time for more on him, but he just does a great job.

The real reason to see the film is the action, it is well staged, exciting, and there is lots of it:) 5 lightsaber battles baby!

I will say more about some interesting philosophical issues in my actual review, which were VERY interesting, and more about some scenes that were well done (Vader's helmeting, Palpatines coming out etc.)

Anyway, it is a good flick, about like the original series. A good story, but VERY dark, there is NO happy ending.

Okay, Nomad, I hope that is good enough... I will try to get a REAL review soon.

Good enough for me!

I disagree on one point. I think Hayden Christiansen did not do a good job. His facial expressions were good, especailly as he got more sinister, but his reading of the dialogue was very weak.
