Militia Day

This weekend I participated in Muster Day at Old Sturbridge Village in Sturbridge, MA. OSV is a living history museum set in the year 1838.

Muster Day was the day that the militia got together and drilled and marched for rediness against enemies. By the 1830's it had become mostly a day for celebration and merriment. The militia would drill and march, and everyone would eat and drink and have fun.

Many of the farmers back then didn't have guns, and so... since I don't have a gun, I got to be the guy who carried the pitchfork! If you watch closely, you will see my old tort's prof. on the other side carrying a hoe.

We staged a mock battle at the end of the day, and this is a little video of it that I put together!
