Amazing Grace is estimated to be #10 on the weekend box office charts. Not to shabby, but not great.
Until you see the per-theater average. Amazing Grace did $5442 worth of business on each screen! The #1 film did slightly less, and the #2 film did only slightly more! The reason for the disparity in the chart slots is that Amazing Grace only opened in 791 theaters, as opposed to the 2 759 or so that others were opening or playing in.
So... a very good opening!
