I found this article interesting, and encouraging. I used to work for a hip hop video show on BET called 106 and Park, and the same things that Dame Anita is talking about were very apparent to me to. And the surprising thing was how the women didn't seem to notice or care that they were being degraded and taken advantage of.
I don't like rap or hip hop, but I think it is a valid artistic medium (I understand it enough). I think that morally it has become something horrid. Part of the rap/hip hop culture is this "pimp and whore" gang, ghetto mentality. Someone needs to come along to change that, and call those that like this music to something higher, but still maintain the beat and soul of the music.
