Something Like Silas

I havn't made mention of them in a while, but...

One of my favorite bands is the Christian Rock/worship band Something Like Silas. They are out of San Diego, CA, and were the worship band/leaders for Flood
Services at The Flood are what is known as "emerging worship" - a post-modern style that emphasizes interaction and artistic expression in the midst of the worship and teaching.

You can find out more about Flood here.

I found out about Silas about 9 months before they signed with Sparrow and released a CD (I have a few of their old CD's).

That CD, Divine Invitation, is really good. Great songs, really coming from the heart. Great music, awesome riffs and solos, just very cool. Their version of "Better is One Day" is like no other, and makes the song come alive. "In the Burning" has a passion rarely felt in the Christian music world, and what a great sentiment too...
In the burning, I get the feeling, my senses are far to small to contain Your fire... You are so beautiful like no other... I am burning for You.

One of the Amazon reviewers called the CD
moody, brooding, environmental, alternative, and impassioned. Musical influences, which flavor rather than dominate the production, range from The Violet Burning to Sixpence None the Richer to Radiohead and U2.

Anyway, the band has gone through some changes (although the core is intact) and are recording a new CD! No word on what the CD is called, but I am really looking forward to it.

SO... check out their music, buy the CD, and look around for the new one!
