Are You Afraid To Ask?

Wanted to let everyone know of a new book out there you might like (came out today actually). The title says it all I think...

Everything You Always Wanted To Know About God (But Were Afraid To Ask).

It is a great book! I have read the first few chapters (my dad has since taken it to read...) and they were great. He takes a conversational approach to questions about God.
Q: What happens when you die? A: Well it depends, but typically the lawn goes unmowed for a while..."
and then he answers the question more thoroughly. No, he doesn't explore the "wide range of beliefs that Christians hold today" and Publishers Weekly complained, but that isn't the point.

Eric is settling down on the stuff all Christians hold to, and the questions that all people ask.

The book is designed to be something you can give a non Christian seeker, that isn't a baseball bat over the head, "read this and change your life" (The Case for Christ has a bloody palm on the cover for crying out loud!) It is non threatening.

Eric Metaxas, the author, is a great guy. Yale educated, a thinker, great writer. He wrote for Veggie Tales; "Omlet", the spoof of Hamlet, was one of his, as well as being a co writer for "Lyle the Kindly Viking" and the writer for "The Gourd Who Saved Christmas" due next year. He was the editor for Chuck Colson's Breakpoint. He has written essays and humor for the New York Times Magazine and The Atlantic magazine (among other places, check out the Bubble People essay... fantastic). He is also the host of Socrates in the City in New York, an evening semi monthly of entertaining and thought-provoking discussions on "life, God, and other small topics". He has also published several other books, including a few children's books (one on Squanto is quite good). Check out his bio!

Anyway, check out his site, the book, and Socrates in the City some time!
