Well... it is Roberts. He actually looks like a VERY good candidate.
Several conservative radio hosts were loving him. Here is his resume.
One commentator on the John Batchelor Show on ABC radio (10pm EST 770 WABC in New York City) was saying that the choosing process was just like an MBA would choose:) He said that the staff was told "get people who fill this description" and they did it. The Clinton White House apparently did a more scattered approach, offering to Mario Cuomo, Bruce Babbitt, finding that they didn't answer quick enough or were un-confirmable, and then came up with Ginsberg.
The John Batchelor Show, by the way, is a great show. Insightful, mostly interviews with experts in various fields, and LONG interviews, full 15 or 20 minutes. Batchelor is great at asking questions, and really digging in.
Anyway, my take on Roberts is that he looks good, conservative, strict constructionist, a good temperment. He also looks confirmable. Most of the talk about him is centered around his youth (he is 50) and his positions. I also think that the liberals didn't think it would be him, and have been caught by surprise, which is ALWAYS a good thing:) Bush is always underestimated. Never fails to amaze me...
